Round 2 saw the Loko AA4’s come up against F@#$ Dunbar. Dunbar were coming off a 2-2 draw in the first game and we were trying to bounce back from an undeserved 3-1 loss to Mascot.
After a slow start we found ourselves 1-0 down to a goal of the year contender. With nothing on and our defence leaving a little too much space, a shot from 25yds hit the angle of upright and crossbar and into the back of the net.
Instead of dropping our heads, slowly we gained the ascendency and restricted them to 1 more shot on target for the half. For the last 20 minutes of the first half we were well on top, our midfield making the most of a great playing surface, keeping the ball on the deck and passing rings around a bigger but slower side.
The second half began as the first ended with us holding the bulk of possession and creating all of the chances but failing to make the most of our opportunities. With 10 minutes left, poor defence from a free kick saw Dunbar score a scrappy second with their only shot on goal in the second half. Despite continuing to press and creating several more chances, our failure to seriously trouble their goalkeeper meant that we succumbed to our second, undeserved loss of the season.
